Warrington RC 2 up Team Time Trial
28/09/2008 by Steve McCall.
Alastair and myself rode the 2 up yesterday over on the Jodrell Bank course, a course full of bloody pot holes and terrible roads but in lovely countryside. We posted a time of 1:01:34 which we were both delighted with. You could tell we had given it our all by the state of us after, even I didn’t talk for nearly 5 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Andy wilkinson won the event with a time of 54 minutes so to think he only put 7 into us was pleasing with the exceptional form he has been showing.
Thanks for the advice on Tuesday’s club night, it worked a treat changing roughly every minute for the first half then when 2nd wheel felt the pace dropping on the 2nd half. Through the whole race I think we only distanced each other twice and that was only by a metre or 2.
Team Trials are a great buzz and a good laugh actually so we’re going to try and get a few teams up for next years events, there’s the Nova CC 2 up in late Feb and a 3 up in Hull early March. Mid March there’s a 2 up again in
Hull, so with plenty of events it would be great to see a bit of inter team rivalry between the Thorpers. The long term aim could be to enter the nationals and really embarrass ourselves!!!!!

Hi
This Sunday does anyone fancy a ride with a big bunch?
http://www.timeoutdoors.com/Events/Profiles/Arthur-Metcalfe-Memorial-Ride
for entry details, although 0945 seems astrange start time, first 25 flat round Boroughbridge then over terrington and around Hovingham area
http://www.cycle4life.org/am.htm
for last years pics so you can see the group size, not a sportive as it isn’t timed but it can be a bit ‘twitchy’!
Food and beer available at the end and easy to get to from here
Club 15 results.
14/09/2008 by Steve McCall.
1st Andy Callaghan 36.09
2nd Steve McCall 37.10
3rd John Callaghan 38.20
4th Martin Lucas 38.53
5th John Hatfield 39.13
6th Dave Sugden 45.40
DNF Al Wareham, punctured on his first Open Time Trial :-( Obviously gutted, shame he wasn’t rewarded with a time for sacrificing 2 nights of beer on holiday in Turkey. His next ride is the Warrington RC 25 mile 2up TTT, watch him take his frustration out then and rip my legs off!!!!
Well done to all riders, especially Andy for the outstanding time 36.09, finishing 12th overall and also the lads who raced yesterday up at the VTTA 10, that’s pain and suffering for you!!!

The club A.G.M. is to be held late october. It now the time to think of who you want to be the officials for 2008/2009, we seem to have an influx of new members who seem to have some progressive ideas, maybe they would like to be nominated for some official position. If so dont be shy come forward and yourselves be known.

Hi,
It’s great to see that the Ravensthorpe Web page / Blog has taken-off; receiving between 1500 and 2000 unique hits per month.
Does anyone have an upto date club run list or a news letter with the latest information on?
If you do please upload on Thorper Blog or e-mail me a copy so i can update the web site.
Change of club run meeting point?
08/09/2008 by Al and Sarah.
Hi everyone, just wondering what your thoughts are regarding changing the meeting point for Sunday club runs from Fir Cottage to Mirfield town centre ? Just thinking its a more central and high profile spot so anyone going past may see the club therefore making us more accessible to new members? Share your thoughts ! We could then put our thoughts forward at the AGM. Cheers
