At long last I think Im blogging. See you at the Windmills on Saturday. El prezy

Mirfield Moor 25 development

Apologies for this not being a strictly cycling related matter but just thought it may be worth mentioning on here for all of us that are in any way interested in Mirfield - whether you live there or have family there - that there is going to be planning sub- committee meeting for the proposed 25 development on Mirfield Moor on the 6th November at 1pm at Dewsbury Town Hall. If you wish to make an objection at the meeting you have to get there for 12.45 in order to inform them. I feel this is a really important issue for Mirfield (I know it affects us directly !) but realistically it affects us all in terms of traffic in the area which is already a nightmare for us cyclists. Anyway just thought I’d mention it, we need all the help we can get !

Cycling related nicknames and trophies they are likely to win.

Hello folks, just a bit of a daft post, a bit of fun really. Without using foul and abusive language (a struggle I know, but lets try), can you think of  cycling related nicknames and their likely trophy wins, if we had them, for members of our club? Be careful though…..some of them might stick!!

Here’s an example to start you off :- Martin Lucas - Sat nav- Winner “most time spent 10 yards in front of the bunch after sitting in all morning”.

26/10/2008 Club Run to Hambleton Cafe

Good turn out of 8 riders in total - Al, Doug, Brad, Phil, Dave S, Craig Newton, Martyn B and Derek. Derek, Phil and Dave went the shorter route over to Keighley cafe and the rest went over Peckett Well but all meeting up at Hambleton Cafe with very good timing !The weather was not great, blustery and showery with some sunny intervals - making it hard going at times, but fast descents ! Martyn unfortunately had a puncture but overall good time was had by all.

Thorpers on Facebook?

Yes, Ravensthorpe Cycling Club is now on the social networking site “Facebook”.

Calling all artists !

Just wondering if there’s any budding artist out there or anyone who knows one ! Who may be interested in putting together a poster and some flyers that we could distribute to promote the club and hopefully attract new members. Unfortunately we are technologically inept so that rules us out !

******New Club Run Start Location from 26th October 08*****

It’s Official the Thorpers are moving with the times (well further along the A644 to Mirfield).

The club runs will be starting from outside Mirfield Library from now on. click on link below->

Most Improved Rider of The Year AWard

How,s this for an idea. Instead of the above let us rename it The Rider of The year Award, this would then allow it to be presented to the person who has done rides in all spheres of cycling without resorting to times. Think about it and let Phil Know your feelings and then we could bring it in for 2009 season.
