A toddle to tykes

Hi, Al is having trouble with his connections he says.

The club run today was to Tyes tearoom at tadcaster, a tortological twister!

With temperatures hovering around zero Al the venerable runs captain led out, President Phil, new Phil, Dave ,Paul on his MTB myself and Craig showing of his new Borghini,( or was it Bogey?) bike which looked very good.

Looks aren’t everything though and as someone once said its not about the bike!

Tea stop was Castleford where we swapped Dave and Paul for Doug, ( open goal there for someone)

Up to Tadcaster via Sherburn and a cold head wind.  I think it was the first time Thorpers have been to Tykes and it seemed a very welcoming place with good portions.

A swift ride back over Towton moor , garforth and Rothwell to be home to the warm bath by about 2.30

Being metric I made it 100.9 Kms from home and an average of 24.3.  Which I think is about 70 miles and just under 15mph?

see you  Thursday?

Club Run -Mirfield to Tadcaster 30/11/2008

Club Run Report - 30/11/2008 to Tadcaster. Present were Alex Millman, Dave Sugden, Martyn Bolt, Craig Johnson, Phil Rounding, Doug Tomlinson, Phil Johnson and special guest Paul Brierley.  A cold and crisp start, great turn out, uneventful run to Castleford cafe where we met Doug and had a morning brew. Then set off for Tadcaster via Sherburn in Elmet where it was still very cold but beautiful scenery. Stopped at Tadcaster for lunch in a very bike friendly cafe next door to the bike shop ! Much discussion and merriment was had by all with much interest in the recent pest control situation. Run statistics were 62.7 miles, average speed 15.1 mph. Look forward to seeing everyone at our new home - Long live the Thorpers !
