Club run to Glossop 1st February.
31/01/2009 by Steve McCall.
With Alex being off the bike due to his recent surgery who will be willing to step in to fill the substantial void that his absence has invariably left? Speaking to a few on Thursday’s club night, I know that they fancy going over the moss to Glossop, what do others think? And is there anybody who we usually pick up on route there that we would miss if we went a different way?
By the way, this will be my 3rd club run this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND I might even have a spell on the front

club run -Mirfield to Bolton Bridge 25/01/09
25/01/2009 by Al and Sarah.
club run report 25/01/09 present were Alex Millman, Phil Rounding, Doug Tomlinson, Steve McCall, Andy Callaghan, Alastair Wareham, Robert Bradby, Richard Creaser, Martyn Lucas, Dave Sugden, Mike and hopefully a new member who unfortunately we don’t know his name as yet.(Jack). A great turn out set off from the usual place straight up to Queensbury the hard way ! Along through Denholme where Steve put the hammer down and Al, Alastair and Richard gave chase (Doug where were you ??!!!!) Battle then commenced all the way into Keighley where a truce was made and we had a brew, here Martyn, Brad and Dave met us for various reasons (Brad as he was late as usual!) We then set off up the Cringles (I think its called) over to Addingham and across to Bolton Bridge where Al, Brad and Doug turned back and the others stayed for lunch. Fast pace into Bradford but all three had run out of steam at Manchester Road where it was a long drag through not the most pleasant of places. Hopefully the rest of the group had a good ride home. A great turn out, good banter, good fun was had by all I hope ! ps am having operation on my hand tomorrow so will unfortunately be out of action for approx 4 weeks - so just wondering if anyone would be up for taking names on the club runs and doing a blog report whilst I’m off ?? Would really appreciate it. Phil have a great holiday. Run statistics 60 miles, average 15.4 mph.

Club Run - Circular route 18/01/2009
18/01/2009 by Al and Sarah.
Club Run Report 18/01/09 - present were Alex Millman, Martyn Bolt, Martin Lucas, Craig Johnson, Robert Bradby, Tony Bradby and Mike (sorry we don’t know your surname !) On the day of the annual club dinner, a fairly good turnout for a short quick ride so we had time to get back and get changed. We headed out through the back roads of Huddersfield avoiding the busy main roads, to New Mill and up the Jackson Bridge climb to the Victoria pub. Returning via Shepley and Thunderbridge to home. Martin Lucas left the group at New Mill for a brew at Holmfirth and was never seen again. Martyn and Craig left us at the Victoria for a brew at the windmill cafe on their route to the annual club dinner. Ride statistics were 30 miles, average 14.1 mph. Excellent turnout at the club dinner and great food as last year. Much thanks to El Presidento for once again arranging a fabulous event - hopefully Steve was taking notes for next year! Just to echo Phil’s words, its great to see new blood in the club and enthusiasm for the year ahead, long may it continue.
Summer funday & BBQ!
16/01/2009 by Steve McCall.
I’ve had an idea for a summer funday and BBQ for our members and their familes etc.
Initial thoughts, that can be used as a starting point and expanded on by other members, are to watch the last stage of the tour on TV and have the funday around that. The only problem is that quite a few members are away on holday, so another date will be needed, 21st June?
I thought about holding it at our club room and on the fields but would obviously have to check that out with Battyeford Sporting Club.
We could then hire a bouncy castle for the kids (and big kids!!!) and also have a few gala type games (easy to set up without too much faffing). If it is raining we can easily set up the bouncy castle inside and I can rustle up some gazebos for BBQing under. We could also have informal kids races and other such stuff. It would probably work best if we didn’t go too much overboard and try to make it too grand, just as an informal fun day.
If we all chip in I’m sure it wouldn’t cost much and would be a good laugh and enable our families to get together, get to know each other and be involved in Ravensthorpe CC. Hope you all think this might be a go-er.
See you all on Sunday
Diary Date 26th April
12/01/2009 by Martyn.
The “Not the Kirklees” sportive will hopefully start near Huddersfield centre and use a very similar route to last year.
I am talking to Police , HQ, and other supporters , the ride will run starting at 0900.
Just how big and snazzy depends on sponsors etc
