Future Club Runs?

As we draw towards the end of another runs list….
how about waddington again, we last did it in February and got round before dark so April should be easy?
19th April is the GHS 100 in 8 reliability form dewsbury to pocklington ( and back)
26th is the Robbo Ride from lockwood
17th may Etape du dales so a club run to Grassington would be good?
13th June GYBR ( and back is 140 miles)
14th June Red Rose ride , Audax to the west coast and back (200Kms)
we haven’t been to Howstein for a while?, the old favourite of Strines and Snake?
How’s about that then?

A British road team finally announced today, by Brailsford, sponsored by SKY from 2010 for 4 years. Looking to gain an immediate entry for Le Tour.

Cannot see Cav putting his eggs in that basket unless he gets the best lead out train around, although Brailsford admitted there will be international riders too.
Who else they going to propel to stardom ? Is there any up and coming big stars? Brailsford doesn’t just do things on a whim, there must be some big signatures on some big future contracts!!!

If they do have Cav does that not spread the resources around at the expense of a good Tour GC position?

Club Run - HCA Reliability Ride 22/02/09

Club run 22/02/09 - present were Alex Millman (yes the captain is back !) Doug Tomlinson, Phil Johnson, Richard Creaser, Mike Bastow (formerly known as Mike the teacher !) Jack De Bockx and Paul Brierley. Apologies for the delay in writing the club run blog but unfortunately my parents got burgled last night whilst we were all out having a big family meal. Anyway it was a great turn out from all the local clubs on Sunday, it was a fast pace out to Cracoe in the Dales via Keighley and Skipton. Far too long for someone who’s been off for 4 weeks and boy am I suffering now ! Dave Sugden was seen by Sarah back in Mirfield - where had you been and was there anyone else with you Dave (you’ve got your point awarded !). Also to say well done to the lads on the time trial, great results………………………………………………………..FOOTNOTE : Was out with the old boys today (wed 25th Feb) and found out that Harry Dixon, Derrick Milner and Martyn Lucas were out with Dave Sugden on Sunday, they headed out to Wintersett. Points will be awarded !

Results from an extremely windy V310 course.
1st Andy Callaghan with 23.44
2nd Alastair Wareham with 23.55
3rd Steve McCall with 24.25
4th Les Dawson with 26.57
The times are all the more remarkable with Andy suffering from a heavy cold and Alastair taking the wrong turning!!!!!!!! (On an out and back course, I ask you! How is it possible, I know he likes to level the playing field and make it fair to us all but I think he’s taking the p1$$ now.) Les smashed his target by over 3 minutes so he is well chuffed as well. All 4 riders beat the majority of riders in their category (eg Andy and myself best most 3s and 8s etc)
For comparison I rode this course on a slightly breezy evening last june in a 23.38 with Matt posting a 22.54, Paul 23.57 and John Hatfield 24.53 so all in all it bodes well for a great season. ALLEZ!!!

I did a 210k West lancs RC event today, a bit brezy at times but i scraped 54 mins off my previous PB on this course, whihc bearing in mind we obet traffic lights stop at checkpoints and down the odd bacon buttie , is not too bad
things are looking good for late July when I hammer myself for 1400kms
Do you think if I lost weight as well i would be the most improved rider….

“Reliability Ride” 22nd February 2009

Steve raised the issue of this ride in the previous post. Those of us on the Club Run on the 15.02.09 will recall that there was some confusion about which Reliability Ride is taking place on the 22nd. The whole discussion descended into laughter as it had begun to resemble a scene from The Life of Brian. None of us are any the wiser about the ride, and we now seem to be depending on Martyn to get the details.
If Martyn can get the details and people are keen to take part - great. If not, are we having an alternative Club Run?

Some cyclists rode in a similar direction at various speeds. Some cyclists got fed others didn’t. Some of said cyclists rode back along a similar route at various speeds
As a rough guide 105 kms at 26.7 kph
