How’s about that then?

A British road team finally announced today, by Brailsford, sponsored by SKY from 2010 for 4 years. Looking to gain an immediate entry for Le Tour.

Cannot see Cav putting his eggs in that basket unless he gets the best lead out train around, although Brailsford admitted there will be international riders too.

Who else they going to propel to stardom ? Is there any up and coming big stars? Brailsford doesn’t just do things on a whim, there must be some big signatures on some big future contracts!!!

 Quote

“Team Sky is aiming to:

  • Create the first British winner of the Tour de France, within five years.
  • Inspire people of all ages and abilities to get on their bikes, through the team’s positive profile, attitude and success.
  • Add further support to competitive cycling in Great Britain. “

Oooh, did he just say that? Big words to live up to!

If they do have Cav does that not spread the resources around at the expense of a good Tour GC position?

All VERY exciting (still not gonna sign up for SKY though!!)

    Sounds rubbish

  2. Martyn says:

    sky often has dark clouds

as kirsty says you can’t do GC and lead out trains in one team

I think it’s a it brash to start saying we can win the tour in 5 years. The tour is nothing like going round and round on curved wood. It is proper pure cycling, and lasts 3 weeks not 5-10 minutes. But we will see, good to have a big firm backing a pro team in Britain.

There are tactics too in RR, less scientific, training to numbers etc.
Will be great to see us try though.

  5. AndyCal says:

This is just the start. with a major sponsor bankrolling £10 million per season we can compete on a level playing field. Maybe not a tour winner in 5 years but an established top protour team and never say never.
