Club Run - Mirfield to Tadcaster 01/03/09
01/03/2009 by Al and Sarah.
Club Run Report 01/03/09 - present were Alex Millman, Doug Tomlinson, Robert Bradby, Phil Johnson, Craig Johnson, Martyn Bolt, Andy Colter, Paul Brierley, Richard Creaser and a new guy called Rob at the start in Mirfield. And then joining is at lunch were Harry Dixon, Dave Sugden and Derrick Milner. On a lovely spring morning, great turn out again and ANOTHER new member which is great. Steady out to Castleford where we stopped for a brew, then at a brisker pace out to Sherburn where Brads sat nav broke down and we went round a few more back streets than expected before we eventually hit Tadcaster! Stopped at Tykes cafe for lunch, very bike friendly and met up with the others as mentioned. After lunch we set off into a suprisingly strong head wind (thought I felt strong coming out!) which made for a long drag home. Martyn hung back with the new guy Rob (who apparently had done a 50 mile ride yesterday poor guy) hope he’s home safe and willing to return next sunday. Ride statistics were 67.5 miles, 15.5 mph average. Well done to the TT team !
Big up to the 2-up!

4 Thorpers (Alastair, Andy, John amd myslef) took ourselves off over the hill to ride the Nova 2-up Team Time Trial on what turned out to be a rather pleasent day with a slight southerly breeze and mild temperatures. (Thanks goodness cos I forgot my base layer so had to make do with just my skinsuit).
The course, at Congleton in Cheshire, is a wonderful rollercoaster of a beast that you ride twice. Some sections had so much mud on the road it was like cyclo-cross timetrialling!!!
Al and John posted a great time of 1:06:15′ being 3 minutes faster than Andy and my time from last year shows what a great performance it was. Andy and me went around exactly 3 minutes faster with a 1:03:15. Change overs were slick and smooth and the pace was relentless, we were both very pleased how it worked. Just got to hope that next weeks 3 up over at Hull will be as slick.
Allez le Verts.
