Club Run - Mirfield to Tadcaster 01/03/09

Club Run Report 01/03/09 - present were Alex Millman, Doug Tomlinson, Robert Bradby, Phil Johnson, Craig Johnson, Martyn Bolt, Andy Colter, Paul Brierley, Richard Creaser and a new guy called Rob at the start in Mirfield. And then joining is at lunch were Harry Dixon, Dave Sugden and Derrick Milner.  On a lovely spring morning, great turn out again and ANOTHER new member which is great. Steady out to Castleford where we stopped for a brew, then at a brisker pace out to Sherburn where Brads sat nav broke down and we went round a few more back streets than expected before we eventually hit Tadcaster! Stopped at Tykes cafe for lunch, very bike friendly and met up with the others as mentioned. After lunch we set off into a suprisingly strong head wind (thought I felt strong coming out!) which made for a long drag home. Martyn hung back with the new guy Rob (who apparently had done a 50 mile ride yesterday poor guy) hope he’s home safe and willing to return next sunday. Ride statistics were 67.5 miles, 15.5 mph average. Well done to the TT team !

    Cheers Al,

Rod Dyer is the new guy who was understandbly ‘tired’ when we got back home, about 100 miles in 2 days on his come back is good going.

Check out the countdown clock on http://www.londonedinburghlondon.co.uk/

and you’ll see why the urgency to get fit!

Now that will be something worthy of most improved new rider if he pulls it off, 146 days to get fit for a 1400 Km ride

    watch this space.

  2. Doug says:

    Martin,
I checked out the countdown clock - but I found it to be predictable, and a little dull.

Guys, I missed out yesterday - enjoying warm and sunny Cape Town at the moment, my bike shipped OK from Heathrow - will do some riding later this week to prepare for Sunday’s Cape Argus. Hope to show some nice pictures next week!

Have a good ride Jack, I’ll be looking in the first 100 finishers for your name……..

  5. Steve McCall says:

Cape Argus in South Africa, Pah! Rubbish compared to Townley Hall ;-)

  6. Doug says:

Good luck Jack. I have to say that Tadcaster probably had the edge over South Africa this weekend - sunny, cosmopolitan and a friendly. And, it too has an Argos
