GHS 100 in 8

harry did a sterling job handling the entries for the GHS reliability ride and about 15 riders were at dewsbury for the start.  Brad rolled in on the 5th chime of nine  o’clock!

Riders from bradford and batley also were there and we may attract some to Thorpers web site in the future.

Thorpers were Suggy, Neil Bates, Rob Krawczuk (?) Phil’s brother in law from Thirsk, Phil J, Craig J, Jim Kirrane ( making a rare excursion into group riding!!) Mick the ref, Mike the teach, Brad ,Martin  and Martyn

Phil R and Karen appeared at the cafe on the tandem so points there Al!

The good weather saw a return to larger crowds at Pcoklington gardens, although the fish lake was very murky but looked well stocked

As riders settled into their comfotr zones, Brad, Teach and martyn went with 4 riders from est Bradford, one of whom Eddie was a very strong rider and large enough to shelter behind

At Cawood the wakefield club with about 16 riders cruised past on their Sunday run to Boothferry, so we  chased them and sat at the back until Sutton on Derwent

We saw the Thorpers groups at Pock arriving in various groups

EBCC set off from Pock at a brisk pace, and after our legs had warmed up we chased them down catching them at Cawood, where a stray rider wiith a broken chain was helped , some riders set off and again ew chased, and chased catching them near Sherburn

The ride was, as the name implies a test of reliability for things to come ,and our group landed back with harry at 3.20pm having lost 15 mins at Cawood, and had 45 mins in the gardens at Pock.

161 kms at 30 kph avg

Thorpers evening testing trip to Pollington.

Al, Andy and me  (Steve) are going over to Pollington (the other side of the A19 from the cafe at Womersly) for the Featherstone RC club “10″ (even though it is only 8.14 miles) on Monday evening for a 7PM start. All you do is turn up, pay £2 and go off in the order you sign on, very relaxed and informal. If anyone fancies it they are more than welcome for a ride on a very fast and technical course.

Well done to all riders on a VERY hard course in quite blustery conditions. BUT the bigest well done goes to Suggy and he has asked me to pass on his sincere thanks for all his band of brilliant marshalls and refreshment technicians ;-)

It ran like clockwork and I’m sure everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable ride all down to the great organisation and support shown by the volunteers. It was great getting the cheers from the marshalls at every RB (all except gobby Jekyl stirring the brown stuff at the start ;-)

A big thank you to Phil Hurt, from Dave and everyone at the club, who was also was a massive support by organising the start sheets etc, if it wasn’t for support like this it would make Dave’s job EVEN harder. Thanks everybody!
