Could you please ask around at the club as to who is interested in doing Lyndas Ride 09th August 2009. We are finalizing a list of riders for transport and accommodation purposes and we know some people are thinking of riding but have not yet committed. The requirement is to raise £100 sponsorship, or failing that a £50 entry fee is payable by the 25th July 2009.Places are being filled quickly so anyone who is interested needs to contact us as soon as possible. Many thanks

i will be in it again this year and highly recommend that other thorpers join in for what is a fantastic ride and a wonderful cause.
170 miles is a long way but no one gets left and everyone works to get the whole group to the finish.. Club Run 9th August Lyndas Ride???????
    Cheers Alex.

I’m interested in riding, sounds good and for a great cause.
Is it worth a group reply to Dave from the Thorpers? if so count me in!

  3. Doug says:

I have ridden the other two rides and I am doing this years too. It’s a really good day - the whole ride is ridden together; no dashing off into the distance! It’s really good to ride all day for such a distance at a good pace; and it’s all good humoured. Sign up!

we have plenty of time to look at possibilities.

Would riders who aren’t going on THE ride consider riding out and meeting the group and riding back with them?
The first time it was held we picked up a number of riders near Pocklington for the return journey?

Obvioulsy it would need planning so those riding out got to the rendezvous about the same time as those doing the ride?

Having not done the ride before how has everybody got to buckden for a 7.30 start? for me driving up and leaving the car is a none starter. Martyn, [possibilities] how about riding to leeds and getting the first train to york, head west and pick up the group from there and so still get over a ton in the legs.

  6. Doug says:

Better to ride out to Pocklington or even Selby, I would suggest, and then ride back with the group for the afternoon/early evening

  7. Martyn says:

to answer Phil, transport to and from Mirfield is usually included in the entry fee dave Sowerby sorts all that out, though you can ride back from Holme Moss if you really want to!

Doug, that’s what i hoped the club might do get the route from dave and either ride to barmby Moor if they are using that for lunch ( might even be able to arrange a deal with dave for lunch?) then ride back en masse?
