Freewheel Contest 2010
17/12/2009 by Alastair.
I was so disappointed to lose my Freewheel Trophy to Dave Sugden this year that I have decided to alter some of the aerodynamic issues that I experienced this year.
Anyway, I found a relatively long descent and Lyndsey filmed some footage of me practicing for next year.

Saturday Cafe ride
14/12/2009 by Martyn.
I’ll try and generate some posts on the easy ride and see how that pans out.
This week 4 Thorpers met at the Bridge at 9 o clock, martyn, Mick the ref, Jonathan and Geoff. Usual route over Emley on a cool and dirty day arriving about 10.15.
The cafe was fairly quiet as few walkers were in, but riders soon filled it. John Craddock and Suggy were already there , Martin, Neil, and others arrived
The riders split for the return with some taking the easy route via Kirkburton and the Calder valley Greenway.
The windmills cafe is closed from 24th Dec to 9th january. Didn’t we go to Holmfirth last year?
club Run - Mirfield to Wigfield Farm 13/12/2009
13/12/2009 by Al and Sarah.
A freezing cold day welcomed 4 thorpers Alex, Jack, Martyn, Maurice and a new rider John for a ride out to Wigfield Farm. Good progress was made for a short distance when Maurice got a puncture, not great weather for changing a tube but quickly fixed off we set again for about 3 miles when Maurice punctured again. This time his tyre had a large slash in it so a make shift repair was required….lots of time lost we decided to change the route to Langsett Cafe for lunch and do an extended route home via Penistone. Jack was lost during all this, i believe heading for Holme Moss! Not the longest of club runs at just 44 miles but with the weather and punctures it was just long enough for our (hopefully) new member John, who was just starting to blow as we reached Mirfield.
