Cheers for the mention! Not so sure about the star rider though. Really impressed with the route. We did well with the ice clearing up on the top's.
Cheers for the warm welcome from everyone as well. It was much appreciated. I'm thoroughly looking forward to Sundays run.

If you are all lucky I may be able to show you my 'throw hot chocolate across the table' trick again!

Steve, that was a very impressive puncture sound although I must stress, it wasn't me screaming like a little girl when it happened it was my brakes, I'm telling you.

Martyn,
Our experience was a "one off". What is the common denominator in all of your experiences?

I am pleased to see that the standards in Langsett haven't changed over the years.
was it the young miserable bid who asked you to move?
This could be a whole new thread on best lines from cafe staff?

A while ago Craig J and I ended up there after doing the Yorkshire stage of the Tour of Britain, it was 4.45 and the cafe closed at 5.
" I hope you don't expect anything cooking at this time" was the welcome we got

On arriving once in the rain, we went to our usual seats near the fire and were told to get in the back room, whilst grotty hikers sat in the warm

Or
Wycoller earlier this year the new owner said
" you should have booked before bringing a group we may have been busy" as tumbleweed blew down the street and echoes rang around the cafe as it was so empty

Snow ball attack, I'm lovin it!

Too true, too true, about the 1 cafe stop in good weather but considering this week and the puncture situation it worked. When the sun is beating down I wanna get home and do some ale and BBQ'd animal.

Very Good Route, We should do it agian when the sun is shinning.
But with only 1 cafe stop, and not the one which the Nora Batty runs at Langsett. Next time she will get a ride by snow ball attack.

Top class ride, stunning views over the hills with snow and sun, beautiful, who needs the dales or peaks?

Do I get a bonus point for most dramatic puncture sound ever?

I've been trying to upload the route from my Garmin but it isn't working.

Anyway, I can tell you that although we only did 54 miles of riding, we did 4885 feet of climbing which is fantastic given the relatively modest amount of miles.

The hill from Holmfirth was an asbolute beauty!

Fantastic route, Al - I wish I had your local knowledge of bike riding routes!

Thanks for including me in the overview - I did set off in time but then had a puncture just getting from Chuch Lane into the main road - too far to walk, so I needed to fix and hope you were all coming towards Ravensthorpe/Dewsbury - Alas, I did see Sowerby passing, but not RCC. In my wisdom I took a mobile phone which didn't have your numbers programmed, so couldn't call. Then hoped to catch all of you on the A62 towards H'field but no-one in sight, then decided to go to Keighley, as I thought you might have changed the route - but no RCC-cyclists there when I arrived. Just did a ride on my own via Oxenhope-Hebden-Sowerby back home. All in all did a 100km with just over 25 km/h average (and one puncture....) Really missed all of you!
