womersley

ok, today didn”t start to good, which is a sad admission by five thorpers cos none of us ,hand on heart , could say we could get to womersley with out getting lost, the one thing we could admit to was we had a good day weather wise and should not waste it.   So after 10 minutes we set off in the idea [mine] of going to barnoldswick.  So Jack,Ben,Paul ,Brad and the king of bling set of at a very brisk pace up to wyke and then over the top through Queensbury turning off and dropping down into oxenhope.  At this point Paul b and Brad turned of for breakfast at rossis , leaving me to watch Ben and Jack fight it out for the next 10 miles to see who could get up a hill fastest.  Pain and suffering!    So over we went in scenic bliss, blue skies and snow covered hills, dropping over Keithley moor and onwards passing through on the back roads to foulridge and landing in Barnoldswick in good time.  For the record Ben and i had a bacon and sausage butty and jack the flapjack.   A good tempo afterwards , where we turned off  at Carleton and onto keithley, now bike riding as we know to well these days needs a mechanical,  and today was mine, just before keithley  those little harderned balls in my rear hub died, leaving me to peddle home sounding like i had a babys rattle behind me. At this point Jack went over the tops home leaving Ben and me to go back through Bradford.  Unsure of mileage,  but a great day out in the saddle.

It was a good ride today. Cheers Phil for the navigation.

The 1st half of the ride was at a relatively sedate pace however after the stop Jack proceeded to rip our legs off on the flat. I was shattered by the time I got home after following Fabian Cancellara! Phil had to nurse me home.

Jack, what mileage did you end up with?

Hopefully there will be a few more out next weekend and we get simular weather but just a little warmer.

  2. jack the flying dutchman says:

Ben - it will for sure be warmer! (at least for me….)
For the record, my legs hurted quite a bit when I decided to do Bailiff Bridge to put the icing on the cake. Did 120 km with an average of 25km/h.
Good riding, but only 5 riders - a shame for RCC!

Sorry I missed it on Sunday lads. Sounds like you had a good one. A good nickname for Jack, Phil - “flapjack” seeing as that’s all he ever eats - well, not quite; but then we can’t call him “scone”, can we?

  4. Steve McCall says:

Doug and Alex, are you conjoined twins?

  5. Doug says:

Yes - I mean no - er …. yes Alex, are we? I don’t know - ask him, not me. I don’t know. If he says so, yes.

what load 0f wallies, the usual coffee stop for womersley is Castleford bus station where a sat-nav was sat awaiting your arrival to no avail however should you all require to improve your knowledge of countryside a visit to the club room may be of some assistance

  7. Al and Sarah says:

Only if Doug says so Steve..

A man from the the country at the sea
    Cycled around for a whee
    And what he found
    Tasty and sound
The perfect scone, as how it should be!

  9. Doug says:

Flapjack is on mind altering drugs again. Jack - stick to whiz and EPO.

Alex - what do you think? I think so; but I’m not sure. Do you think so?

  16. Steve McCall says:

    Al,
you are right, my apologies, the integra of hypothesis of the reflex angle when used as as the calclus of pi divided by the lateral degrees of spherical influx when used as a constant, does indeed calculate to the 48th degree rotational rule being applied…….I thought I was the top dog but I cede to your superior “beingacockability”.

    Jack,

You are wrong, imperial is the way to go, I would much prefer a pint than 568.2624 mls of beer.

  17. Doug says:

Imperial measurements are the only ones that make sense.

  18. Doug says:

And we are all wrong - it’s 74.568
