Ouch.

Says it all really, hard course, hot weather, crap ride. Probably the worst I’ve ever ridden. I think the course beat me mentally before I started, I drove up from the turn and went very quiet with trepadation.

I started to warm up but there was no shade what so ever, so pootled around the roads without getting my legs going. When I set off I started well within myself then tried to open it up after 3 miles and there was nothing there, ziltch. I thought about packing but then resigened myself to a long time in the saddle :-( I contemplated selling the lot and joining Andy in his often mooted formed Harley Davidson Club!!

The rolling terrain was a pig, there did not seem any sections at all where you could turn a big gear and get into a rhythm, I’ve changed gear more today than all the rides on that bike put together. Ended with a 1:03:27 in 127th, oh dear never mind…..now where did I put those motorbike leaflets?

Hutch won the event with a 49.34!!!
