Rigid Forks for MTB?

Looking at putting rigid forks on my 1997 Cannondale commuter mtb. It has old school Rockshox Indy forks at present which measure axle to crown (when unweighted) of 430mm, and 260mm steerer. Ahead Diatech headset. I want to get rid of the bounce and looking at perhaps carbon forks from Carbon Cycles around £100 or Salsa forks from Wiggle at £72.  Need studs for cantilever brakes. Will these fit and does anyone any have suggestions/ recommendations?

120 Year Jerseys - ORDERED

I have this morning finally placed the order for the jerseys following collecting (most) of the cash.

If anyone outstanding (you know who you are, you have been text!) can send me through the cash as soon as they can that would be great.

Jerseys should be around three weeks and I will then arrange getting them all to you as soon as I can.

Peace out.

Message for Sky John & John C.

“This isn’t flat, Alex!” Tickhill 27.03.2011

Me, Alex, Phil Rounding, Ben, Sky John, Young John, Spinner, Metal Mike, Geoff and Dave Hirst turned out today for a fantastic ride. 87 miles at at average of 16.3 is pretty good for this time of year, and despite the promise of a flat route, this wasn’t flat at all. We went out towards Sheffield and Barnsley and then cut across to Tickhill, riding on some “rolling terrain”. Some of the uphill sections were pretty testing. By the time we got to the cafe we had ridden 46 miles. The cafe was superb - the service was first class and the staff were very friendly.

The way back was through Doncaster and Wakefield and over the nasty little Horbury drag, which everybody seemed to ride with ease.

Ben was very strong today - I wasn’t too far behind him. Dave rode well too, as indeed did everybody. We all had our strong episodes. The best part of today was the fact that ten of us set off and we all returned together. It was tough at times. We often had mad moments of 30mph on the flat, testing each other, hammering it up some of the hills, but it was done in  good spirits and nobody seemed to “take the hump”.

This was a great route, and it should be a regular one, in my view. Maybe it helped that the weather was good; maybe the banter at Sky John’s expense, and Ben’s when he had his mechanical, helped too - but I can honestly say that cycling doesn’t get much better than today.

Another windy time trial

Today did the O10/3, another 10 mile time trial starting close to Worksop going north on the A1 up to Blyth and back. The weathergods had not been very grateful as last weeks summer abruptly ended last night and it became much coldier, contrary to the forecast it was also a lot windier. Despite the weather i was promissed by many that as this is a fast course i would smash my PB. And I did. I was stupid enough to forget my computer so i didn’t have any information along the ride but fortunately could use the chrono on my watch to get atvleast some basic information. So……got 57 seconds off my previous PB and finished in 23.07. It was tough riding with the wind, certainly the return half, but it is a fast course without doubt.Other thorpersJohn Lancaster did 23.45John Hatfield did 24.49Just found out that i had the fastest time on handicap, so another check coming my way.Jack

Next time you moan about the wind…

…Spare these guys a thought. i thougt i was going to see cows and barns flying overhead next!
