Back the Bid for Yorkshire to Host the Tour de France 2016

Apologies if you already have seen this already but for those who haven’t, here is the link.

http://www.yorkshire.com/back-the-bid

Only takes a minute to complete.

Just imagine the Tour coming through Ravensthorpe!

Andy Schleck 2010 Tour de France winner

In case you have been on another planet and missed the news; Contador has been found guilty of doping and forfeits his 2010 win in the Tour de France along with the 2011 Giro which will go to Michele Scarponi.

He has 2 yr ban retrospective so he can get back on his bike competing again in August this year.

Not sure if he is wanting to do the Thorper Anniversary ride. I don’t we should let him.

Garmin Connect - Club runs

If Club runs etc loaded onto Garmin Connect had “RCC” in the title, would it let others easily find Club run information, as well as having all Club ride data logged in one place.  What do you think?

Well done Cav

As you already know, Cav is a regular visitor to the site and I would like to pass on my congratulations for FINALLY being awarded BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2011. This is great for British Cycling.

Well done Cav, hope to catch up with you at the Grange?

By the way you need to give your order (and Peta’s)to Fry up soon.

Mirfield to Pickering

A few of you were aware that my son Lewis was doing a ride for Castle Hall School from the School to Pickering so I thought I would give a brief update.

Lewis, my friend John and I set off in glorious sunshine 09:30 yesterday and pedalled our way stopping at Lotherton for a brew, through Tadcaster,  through centre of York and on for another brew at Castle Howard. My wife and duaghter were support “team car” and met us a couple of times on the route with extra water, food etc. The going was easy with little if no breeze and fantastic weather. We arrived at Pickering Castle clocking up 72 miles. Stats from Garmin (which followed the route brilliantly) are: 4hrs 54 mins moving time, ave moving speed 14.7 mph which would have been higher if it was not for crawling through York Centre.

All in all a great day on the bike and guess what, he wants to go for a ride today!

Robbo - tomorrow is it a Thorper ride?

Just looked at the entry list and it lookes as 12 Thorpers will be out on the ride.  Are we going to ride together ?

It would be good if a group of us could ride together but realise some riders will be out to get a good time or beat their last time etc etc.  What’s your thoughts?

Pocklington 100 in 8

What date is this being held?

Rigid Forks for MTB?

Looking at putting rigid forks on my 1997 Cannondale commuter mtb. It has old school Rockshox Indy forks at present which measure axle to crown (when unweighted) of 430mm, and 260mm steerer. Ahead Diatech headset. I want to get rid of the bounce and looking at perhaps carbon forks from Carbon Cycles around £100 or Salsa forks from Wiggle at £72.  Need studs for cantilever brakes. Will these fit and does anyone any have suggestions/ recommendations?

Cyclo-cross bike wanted

Anyone have a cyclocross bike suitable for my lad age 12yrs that they would be willing to sell?  Please reply to this post and I will get back in touch.  It will be his first season, so do not want to spend a fortune on the off chance, as he may not like it.

Rise of the Mamils
