Tour De France Fantasy Game

There’s a pretty cool fantasy game with some nice prizes so pick your team and lets see who’s got the best Bjaarne Riis impression!

It’s at http://www.halfordstdfgame.co.uk/

I’ve set up a mini league too so we can see how we’re going on, just type it in and i think i have to confirm it. The league name is Ravensthorpe CC and the password is thorpers.

Next time you moan about the wind…

…Spare these guys a thought. i thougt i was going to see cows and barns flying overhead next!

Organising a Time Trial event

Hello fellow Thorpers, im at lancaster university and they have a yearly competition with york uni know as ‘The Roses’ and it includes all sorts of sporting competitions but doesnt currently have a cycling event.

Our Uni club has gone from strength to strength and we now have a large and fast bunch of riders and thus we want to organise a race for the competition. Of course none of us have any experience in this so i was hoping for a bit of advice. I think at this stage we are looking at a maximum of 30 participants.

The club is not a member of CTT but we will be BC soon. But does this matter as it wont be a open event? If it is on open roads do we need to notify the police and or local council? Would marshalls have to be qualified somehow or could they be anybody from the student union for example? What is the proceedure with the time keepers? Are there any other proceedures we would have to follow?

The other option we have is using the salt ayre race track on the way to Morcambe for either a TT or road race event, this would mean no need for police notification etc and less marshalls.

Hopefully this isnt too confusing! I would really appreciate a bit of advice if anyone has any experience in this sort of thing. Thanks a lot. John Callaghan
