To all Strines fans

For all of you who enjoy riding over Strines moor, help may be at hand .

Langsett, new style same cafe

I called in at Bank View this morning whilst working over that way.

The cafe has had extensive ’surgery’ and you now enter by the rear ( yes I know the danger that comment poses), there are 3 rooms although open plan.

All the cycling stuff, with the exception of an old leather saddle in one room has gone.

There are now toilets inside, wow civilisation?

Service slow , atmosphere 0, doesn’t look as if they want hikers and bikers

Contact details

It may be worth Thorpers putting their home/wife/girl or boyfriends contact number in their own mobile, under the heading ICE.

This stands for In Case of Emergency.  I don’t know how many emergency services would look, but in the ( hopefully unlikely) event of an incident  at least Thorpers  would know to look

Always assuming people have mobiles with them, don’t have them locked with a password or pin and have someone who is bothered what happens to them?

An alternative would be for Thorpers to email me those details and i can add them to the members list for ride leaders to take with them?

Dave Hirst

Unfortunately on the way home from the Windmills today Dave came off on the tight bend just before the quarry.

He was  out cold for a while, and has been taken to Huddersfield infirmary, where early reports are  collar bone, couple of ribs, poss puncture to the lung but waiting results  as he took a nasty bang on the helmet,

Sept Ride with other clubs

A great route in ‘rolling’ terrain and you can see the size of field it attracts from the photo?

Dinnington RC and Yorkies usually send quite a few riders so a chance for anyone with legs to try and stretch them in good company?

activity survey

The club has been asked by CTC as part of a review of affiliated club  services to list the type of cycling we do and rank them in order.

The best way to do it is …. or is it?

It was sent via the Thorpers email account but says that as a member  of SELBY CC, we should be interested!!

Nice that it promotes’G'   as their star .  pity it uses a picture of  Ed Clancy as the main star?

In the past Thorpers have ridden out to York on the Sunday for  browse round the show?

Interestingly there is a ride report of something Craig has been advocating for a while, ride your local area at night, in this case Sheffield.  Craig why not post a ride and see how many fancy a Thorpers ride on the dark side?
