new club promo

I have set up a Thorpers link on the Map my ride web site,

http://www.mapmyride.com/community/groups/104124385558327052

there are a few cyclists listed near Mirfield.

If anyone has time we could contact them all and market the club?

Youth Training

Hi,

I have managed to secure funding to deliver a block of youth sessions , projected for Thursday evenings at West Mills fields ( where the clubhouse is!)

The club has to fill in the forms for this, and the plan is we will buy in coaching time initially but can potentially look at training any thorpers interested in being a coach in the longer term if there is interest

We will also need helpers to marshal; etc, and the potential for the club to gain new members both youth and parent is out there

Additionally on 25th July Mirfield is hosting an Olympic countdown event, part of a national series at the  showground in the town centre.  The date of   this is linked to the national events, and sadly i can’t be there as I have to go to London to register for the LEL start.

There will be youth races around the field and helpers would be appreciated and we can look at putting on a display to promote the club

I need to know if there is interest from the club otherwise we will decline the funding and opportunity

Etape Du Dales

What time are riders thinking of starting the ride as it may be good to get a photo at the start?

I know that will be the last we see of Jack based on his current form

Are any Thorpers riding to Grassington on the 17th or will it be another impromptu club run?

touring?

Rod and I will be doing at least one weekend ride soon.

The potential is to ride about 200kms on Saturday stay over and then do another ride on the Sunday.

One option is spliting a 400 k route I used for PBP qualification, Gargrave-Cowan Bridge, Dent Kirby Stephen, Langwathby  Hartside Pass(!!) Alston, Yad Moss, Scotch Corner, Richmond, Leyburn, Kidstones  Kettlewell and home

Anyone fancy making one in and having a night out somewhere?

some great pics of the ride yesterday and some good shots of Les Verts, going vertical

Might be worth getting some high definition original for the club website Craig?

I think the photo gallery has all our members as well

Good Event in September

One for the future diary, I have done this for a few years and there is a good route, good crowd and usually good weather,

last year there were no feeder stations but at 70 miles you can manage from pockets and bottles as it was a fast ride.

——————————————————————————–

[email sent to club]

Just to let you know that I have taken over Riverside Cafe on Waterside in Knaresborough. I dont know if you use this cafe on any of your runs, but I know it is a popular bikers cafe.
We have railings opposite where you can put your bikes and provide a warm welcome in all weathers, copious amounts of tea and plenty of toasted teacakes, poached eggs and baked beans etc, etc. If you have been using us please continue and if you havent….why not?
We are open 7 days a week. 10am till theres no more custom!
My name is Sue Chapman and you can contact me on [number on request - Arthur] should you require any more information.
Thanks for reading this e mail and I look forward to serving you and your fellow cyclists in the future.

Clifton CC

I was checking out this club as I met with some of their members recently.

The web site has a few good points for ours

Great Yorkshire Bike ride entries

The ride is on 13th June next year. return transport has already sold out.

Anyone wishing to ride MUST pre register online http://www.gybr.co.uk/

Previoously we have done it both ways, if anyone is interested?

Entry provides feeder stations on the way out, we stopped at Filey for lunch and terrington for a snack on the way back

Although the same route the ride is different each way and an early start means that you see many riders on the way back
