My 1st club run…

Maybe on sunday but i can only manage 50 mile tops at the moment and i will struggle to ave 15 mph.So where is every body going.Saw the post about Jen’s ride but that is way too far for me.

Iv’e set it up now.Got mudgaurds on it.Thinking about cutting off the excess stearing column as i think it looks silly with that bit sticking out the top.The top tube is quite short so i have put a longer stem on (the one that Mal gave me) and i will put the shoter stem that came with the bike on my other bike as that has a longer top tube so should have 2 bikes with the same distance from saddle to bars.
Anyway rode it this morning for a very steady 20 mile to Charlotts cafe and it rode like a dream.For the price it certainly rides well.Very responsive and goes well up the hills.Rides like a much more expensive bike.It was a hilly ride and certainly made the hills feel much easier compared to my heavy MTB.Its just a shame about the pain in my hip.It’s only muscular pain (joint is ok now) so a few wks with the physio should sort it out.
The only thing i have isues with is the front chainrings.50 and 34 tooth.A bit small for me and i think they are steel so i may put on my other spare shimano 600 chainset with 53 and 42 teeth.So it may save a bit of weight too.

Quite fun actually,good atmosphere,expecially when i turned my torch off and it was pitch black.

Best road bike for £500

I am on Royal mail the cycle to work scheme with Halfrauds but unfortunatley RM have capped this at £500. 
Does any one have any suggestions of the best road bike i can get for 500 squid
I know Leisure lakes (they had specialised Allez for £500 but now the price has gone up) and condor accept Halfords vouchers (rang them and there was nothing for me at this price).
Any suggestions would be helpfull 
Tubular repairs

I have decided to start up my tub repair service again.Back in the 80s and 90s i did tub repairs for cyclists all over the UK including regular clients from Northern Ireland.
So if anyone is interested in having there tubs repaired then please let me know via the blog or my email s.v120@hotmail.com
Charges are a competitive rate of £10 per tub inc postage.
