I joined the club last summer about the same time as Mad John and managed to make a good number of the saturday windmills runs. I’ve been cycling on and off for a number of years but have wanted to take it a bit more seriously recently. I’m proud to be amember of a club with so much history and look forward to meeting more of you on the runs/ socials this year! Nick Scanlon

New Thorper - William Rees Millman

William would like to thank all his fellow Thorpers for their lovely kind words of welcome and can’t wait to meet you all hopefully tomorrow night at the club rooms - barring any big hiccups (excuse the pun!). Mum and dad are overwhelmed by our beautiful little boy but also very tired ! It was so lovely though to receive all your lovely messages when we got home - finally ! See you soon thanks again Captain Al and Sarah and William. ps Congratulations to Richard and Diane just heard their lovely news of a baby girl.

membership and kit

Hello all

who should I see about signing up as a club member and also where can I get some of the swish new kit, I feel left out, especially after seeing ref Mike on Sunday morning head to toe in green and white!

The King is dead, bring back the king!!

Does anyone have  phone number for (K)ing (H)enry?  Having read his Blog entries with riveted interest, I had a moment of enlightenment, and I realised that every word he uttered was akin to the word of God himself!!!!! I have since followed his training tips to the letter, and lo and behold i’ve increased my pedalling rate (or cadence as the Holy one calls it..) from 194 to 195!!! I rang my mate Tony Doyle, and he said “Bloody hell Bradby, that’s well brill!!! Ring King Henry and tell him.” So to cut a long story short, I’d like to invite The King back to the forum for further tutorials in the art of bicycling as written down in The Good Book, “(De)cadence is not a sin.” Join me, and be coached by the right hand of God.

Former Thorper Back on the Bike

Hi there,

When wasting some time on the net I came across the Club’s web site, and so am very pleased to be able to get back into contact with you. A couple of the older members may still remember me, I did a bit of racing back in the seventies in the Ravensthorpe jersey. I am back on two wheels again, but no where near being competition fit, or even club-run fit, but enjoying it. Am in Germany at the moment after many years out in Asia, so now I am a bit closer to home would be good to keep in contact with the club again. If you can figure out a way for me to pay the membership, and buy a jersey, I would be really happy to sport the Ravensthorpe colours on the roads around Munich. If anyone wants to get in touch with me, this e-mail is ok, or I can be contacted by phone on +49 176 17272 155 Cheers, Rob Ward

Club runs??

Hi,

what sort of distance/routes are you guys doing on the club runs?

I am newish to cycling and the legs are still getting used to it, not to mention the hills of West Yorks!!

I may be interested in joining along for a trial but don’t know if I will hold you up too much.

Cheers,

Greg.
