Club Run Sun 23rd April

I managed to get a short pass from child birthday party sandwich making so I nipped down to the library at nine to say hello and ride out with the club for the first hour..

It was raining so i wasnt expecting a big turn out but on arrival there was just one bike leaning against the wall and a shouting coming out of the ladies toilet!! It was Mike taking shelter from the rain (well thats what he said he was doing in there). So just the two of us then, the R.M.R. had stopped in bed.

The corner cafe at Holmfirth was our plan for a quick brew and a butty so off we set with the rain coming and going all the way but good progress was made with a surprisingly large amount of other cyclists out battling the elements too.

Cant make it next week so good luck to all those doing the Robbo and hopefully see lots of you on the 3rd May for the meeting at the club rooms..

Cheers Alex.

Small frame to try out…

My youngest is looking at increasing her fitness levels and would like to try some road cycling. Before I want to spend some money, mis there anyone who has a small bike, maybe around 51cm, for her to try out for a weekend? She has MTB experience but not road cycling, obviously i’ll go with her to ensure the bike is in good hands….

Ravensthorpe 10 Results.

A big thanks to Dave Sugden, all the Thorpers, and their friends & family who helped make the event a great success.

Our race is a popular and well supported event and it was great to see the British Cycling development team, 100% Me, taking part with six of their riders.

There was a strong headwind going out, making it very tough but the return was fast and some top speeds were recorded. The first six spots were filled by the 100% Me team which was no surprise and the winner was Sam Harrison in a blazing 20.47 despite the cold and windy conditions.

Thorper results:

Andy Callaghan  24.05  (1st Vet 50)

Rob Hatfield       24.56

Paul Brierley       25.15

John Lancaster  27.21

Howard Newton 28.37

Stephen Garside 30.38

Geoff Draper      30 .53

Rob Hatfield & Jack DeBokx  25.15  (4th Two up team)

Well done Thorpers, also it’s great to see Howard back after 7 or 8 years off TTs and Stephen in his first TT.

Allez Les Verts.
