Club Run -Mirfield to Tadcaster 30/11/2008
30/11/2008 by Al and Sarah.
Club Run Report - 30/11/2008 to Tadcaster. Present were Alex Millman, Dave Sugden, Martyn Bolt, Craig Johnson, Phil Rounding, Doug Tomlinson, Phil Johnson and special guest Paul Brierley. A cold and crisp start, great turn out, uneventful run to Castleford cafe where we met Doug and had a morning brew. Then set off for Tadcaster via Sherburn in Elmet where it was still very cold but beautiful scenery. Stopped at Tadcaster for lunch in a very bike friendly cafe next door to the bike shop ! Much discussion and merriment was had by all with much interest in the recent pest control situation. Run statistics were 62.7 miles, average speed 15.1 mph. Look forward to seeing everyone at our new home - Long live the Thorpers !
something different
28/11/2008 by Martyn.
as the HCA ride out is cancelled does anyone fancy a different ride out? I got this through work. I went to a summer service at Cotswold and it was good food, not too serious and plenty of cyclists.
Hi Everyone
Firstly an apology if you’re receiving this twice - I blame my chaotic address book. You and your friends are warmly invited to the Tockwith Carol Service and general bunfight on Sunday 7th December.
The service this year is being held at the C of E Church, the Rev Jackie Betts the Methodist Minister to the Knaresborough Circuit, will again lead it, sadly for the last time. The service starts at 12.45 but both before (and after) the Tockwith Under 5s mums will be selling refreshments in the village hall .
I would be grateful if you would pass this message on to others on your address list who might be interested so that this, our 21st service, will enjoy a really good turnout.
many thanks

I have been in touch with the bike shop in taddy and there is a cafe ( tykes) on the main street next to Cyclesense which is very welcoming to cyclists , so Sunday should be OK if anyone is out?

Move to new club house
25/11/2008 by martyn1.
I have spoken to Battyeford Sporting and they are arranging keys etc for the new clubhouse.
I am trying to get something arranged for that night to start off with a ‘bang’, fitness tests, interactive turbo are a couple of feelers I have put out.
Please can you help by ringng round club members in particular the ones we don’t see or who aren’t on the blog?
If we can try to drum up support it will help?
i am trying to get something in the papers this week to attract members of the public and if we can go down with club tops we can get a team photo for the next week’s paper?
7.30 December 4th at the new ‘home’?
Ride out dinner important update
25/11/2008 by Martyn.
we need a plan ‘b’, free wheel back at stainland?
Folks,
Further on from my email last week we have only had 8 conformations of attendance for the ride out dinner. This is not enough. therefore the dinner for 2008 is postponed. An outlined proposal is to re-arrange it for 2009, possibly first quarter.
Anyone with any thoughts / ideas feel free to comment.
Thanks & Regards
Paul Brierley & Chris Vokes

Club run report for 23/11/2008 - present were Alex Millman, Martyn Bolt and Craig Johnson. On a very cold morning the three set off, Alex left at Sowerby Bridge as he was sick of being on the front dragging ginger and co along ( he also had to be at work ) The rest has been reported by Martyn.

Hope we can get a good turn out for them all, even I promise to ride the hill climb! Don’t promise to post a good time though
If anybody needs any help with forms etc give me shout anytime and I will endeavour to do my best as your friendly racing sec!
I will be hounding you all nearer the time so make sure you have my number memorised and caller display working if you wanna dodge the events!!!
When the handbooks come out I will be printing off the races that Andy, John and me have got our eyes on and will pin them on our notice board in the new club room. If anyone else has races that they fancy they can add them on a sheet that I will put up alongside these.
well worth it!
23/11/2008 by Martyn.
It was worth braving the wind, rain and freezing weather today
I saw 2 rare sights, each of whihc would have made the ride worth it but combined they are priceless
The ’scenery’ at Townley Hall cafe was at its usual highstandards, although i do wonder if the health and safety lot might have something to say about the waitresses exposing so much midriff in the cold weather?
The to make it prefect on the way back that sight, rarer than the first cuckoo of spring, craig at the front! It was fleeting, as his rotund figured barrelled past me near the cooper bridge roundabout, grinning like a cheshire cat as he tried to nick the Kirklees sign sprint,
I must admit at times on the ride it felt like I was on a tandem as he was sat so close behind me that i never thought about the sprint
Well you lot missed it as I doubt he’ll be at the front again this year
Cycle promotions sale this Sunday.

I’m going on Sunday to get quite a few bits I need, is there any of you who are riding on Sunday that would like something fetching?
